The process of posting payments is now very simple, and completely automatic.
When a payment is posted, the program looks to see how much interest is currently owing. If the payment amount is less than or equal to that, the entire payment is posted to interest. If the payment amount is greater than the interest owed amount, the balance is applied to principal. The program then closes off the current deployment line, by entering an exit date, and creates a new record with a type of New Principal for the remaining amount with interest starting immediately, and with no origination or transfer fees.
Payments are not applied to individual deployments, but to the case itself.
